Dual Membership Information

With the goal of long-term maximization of membership benefits and growth for our members, the Southeast Tennessee SHRM Chapter is excited to more fully partner with National SHRM by implementing the Dual Membership Program in August 2024. This alignment with National SHRM brings increased credibility and strength in numbers which will increase our effectiveness to represent HR professionals.  Learn more about benefits of membership here!
The Dual Membership Program means that you will be renewing both your National and Local Chapter membership on the National SHRM website. This process is simpler for you and for our local chapter. New members will also enroll through this website.  If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our Membership Chair, Carl Post, at [email protected].

As a Dual Member chapter, local members will transition to be dual members of both National SHRM and the Southeast Tennessee Chapter.

What is the DMR program?

Put plainly, the SHRM Dual Membership Release (DMR) program allows SHRM Dual Members to join and renew membership with SHRM and their local SHRM Chapter with one transaction.

How does the DMR program help my Chapter and me as a Chapter member?

As an award-winning local chapter of SHRM with a rich tradition of being the local go-to group for all things HR, Dual Membership Release will offer further opportunities to connect, collaborate, learn, and grow.

By becoming a 100% affiliated chapter and joining the DMR program, our Chapter will have greater access to nationally recognized speakers, and our members will be able to maximize their access to the SHRM Competency Model to facilitate the advancement of career paths or further knowledge as a student or business professional. Additionally, alignment with National SHRM lends credibility and strength in numbers, increasing the effectiveness when representing HR professionals with grassroots efforts at the legislative level.

Key features of the DMR Program:

  • Greatly reduces the administrative burdens of Chapter membership operation and thus allows Chapter Volunteer more time to focus on “Mission” over minutia.
  • SHRM provides a “one and done transaction” that makes it easier and more convenient for new members to join the Chapter and for existing Chapter members to renew, as there is only one annual renewal date for both the SHRM and Chapter memberships.
  • SHRM maintains the Chapter membership records, which are updated in real time, and all data is available to Chapter leaders via a unique “Affiliate Management Portal” (AMP) website.
  • SHRM markets membership on behalf of the chapter and conducts membership renewal campaigns for the Chapter.
  • SHRM processes all membership transactions for the Chapter, absorbs the credit card transaction fees and sends the money to the Chapter via direct deposit (again lessening the Chapter’s administrative burden).
  • Being in the DMR program increases the Chapter’s exposure to potential new members, helping to grow the Chapter.
  • By becoming a 100% affiliated Chapter and participating with the DMR program, the annual Chapter Financial Support Program (CFSP) payments SHRM sends to your Chapter to support Chapter programming and member engagement activities increase from $10/member to $30/member.
